Title Innovation Corridor Manager

Information The division of Outreach and Engagement is now accepting applications for the Innovation Corridor Manager.The Innovation Corridor Manager will coordinate, administer, promote, evaluate, and deliver all necessary programs and activities in support of developing an Innovation Corridor along I-69, initially between USI and Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane, but not limited to that area. The Innovation Corridor Manager will serve on the I-69 Innovation Corridor Executive Committee and provide direction and assistance to committee members to maximize its effectiveness in bringing desirable development to the Corridor.Essential functions for the manager are to provide overall daily coordination for the initiative, working closely with the executive committee, task force champions, and task forces to ensure deliverables are attained in a positive, efficient manner. Cultivate and connect stakeholders: enhancing the engagement of current consortium members, engaging and educating other leaders and citizens on the work being done with the initiative, and providing regular communication on key updates to the consortium. Build and enhance trust across the consortium through continuous communication and transparent efforts. Seek out and engage other organizations and agencies within our communities to help fulfill the various roles needed to provide the backbone of the effort. Along with the executive committee, locate and raise funds to support planning, mobilization and data collection. This could include federal and state dollars through grants, as well as repurposing funds already in place within the region and state. Seek connections with economic and governmental entities to enlist their support in the Corridor development. Manage coordination of events designed to spur development of the Corridor. Implement, coordinate, promote and evaluate all aforementioned programs and activities, as needed. Delegate the implementation, coordination, promotion, and evaluation for those newly developed programs and activities that are deemed best suited for other entities.

Master’s degree or higher strongly preferred; candidates with Bachelor’s degrees who have exemplary and long-term relevant professional experience may be considered. At least five years of experience in project management, economic development, community development experience, particularly on a regional scale preferred; commensurate experience in public administration, marketing, sales, non-profit or for-profit leadership/management will be considered. Experience in fundraising with proven results and managing volunteers preferred. Experience in managing finances and budgets required. Relationship building skills with all levels of individuals – from CEOs to high level government officials, to citizens, community leaders, colleagues, etc. Boundary spanning leadership skills and stakeholder cultivation skills. Excellent listening skills for problem resolution and needs assessment; strong oral communication skills, suitable to group training presentations and to one-on-one or small group situations; and written communication skills suitable for university and community interaction. Demonstrated organizational skills effective in project management and program delivery. Excellent interpersonal skills for relationship-building with community and government leaders as well as USI faculty and staff. Exemplary negotiation skills. Able learner with environmental scanning capability. Awareness of the offerings of the University and an understanding of the mission of the University required and awareness of the regional economy and needs of area businesses and organizations required.

The position is currently funded for 2 years.
