Information The objective for the Greever Endowed Chair is to establish a nationally recognized program that enhances agribusiness development in Tennessee and the Nation. The Greever Chair is expected to:

Identify and analyze market trends and areas of potential agribusiness industry growth in light of Tennessee’s agricultural and natural resource base;

Facilitate establishment of new businesses or expansion of existing businesses, particularly those that rely on Tennessee agricultural commodities or forestry products;

Partner with agricultural commodity groups in exploring opportunities to strengthen the market position of Tennessee producers;

Generate outreach material and peer reviewed publications related to agribusiness development;

Acquire significant extramural funding to support the program;

Collaborate effectively with Extension, Research and Teaching faculty in the Department, Institute and University;

Collaborate, as appropriate, with state, regional, and federal agencies to promote agriculturally-related business development;

Mentor junior faculty members and supervise graduate students;

Participate in the faculty committee and governance structure of the Department, Institute and University;

Provide leadership for a program of activities that meets the needs of all eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion, or veteran status.

REQUIREMENTS PhD in Agricultural Economics, Economics or closely related field, national recognition for excellence in Extension and research programs, ability to function effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a willingness to travel are all required. Knowledge of and experience in agribusiness management in the private sector are preferred.
