DIGITAL SUMMIT
September 21 - 24, 2020
Economic recovery is imperative. We must not only consider regional recovery but establishing resiliency for long-term survival in an ever-changing world. To accomplish this, UEDA is pleased to host a Virtual Economic Accelerator Summit assembling economic development minds from across the globe to collaborate and co-design strategies to leverage higher education institutions to advance economic acceleration and resiliency.
During this one-of-a-kind Summit, participants will collaborate on regional challenges, hear from industry and higher education experts, and actively participate in digital workspaces, design-thinking sessions, and visual collaborations to develop a framework for accelerating regional economies. This is NOT your typical online conference. This will be an immersive, engaging experience where participants will work collaboratively across digital channels to share ideas, data, and expertise to develop actionable take-aways. All economic development minds and allies are encouraged to attend.

Based on initial estimates, we are planning for even more participants for our virtual event than our in-person Summits. Therefore, we have plenty of amazing sponsorship opportunities in the works to drive engagement with and exposure to UEDA participants. We will work with all of our existing sponsors to transition them to our digital event, as desired.

About the Program
This will be an immersive experience. We encourage you to share these dates with your regional economic development allies and invite them to participate as we will have interactive programming that will encourage participation by full regional ecosystems. This will not be a program where participants can multi-task…participants will be actively engaged in design charrettes and challenge sessions. The UEDA Summit vows to be a different (in a good way) online event. While digital content is good, we don’t have to sacrifice engagement and collaboration. We are creating an innovative, roll-up-your-sleeves type of event. It will be fun!
Reasons for the Switch
Beyond the obvious, we feel that UEDA has an important role to play in fostering the acceleration of regional economies and helping regions not just recover, but reinvent themselves. We have the opportunity to play this role because our members are the drivers of their regional economies. While we are disappointed we will not be headed to Savannah, we are thrilled to convene this Summit at a time when we can create a format that is collaborative for all players in regional economic ecosystems. Also, we are rescheduling Savannah for 2021.
Dates and Times
Our Summit will span four days (September 21-24) and will take place roughly from 12p – 4p ET (9a – 1p PT) each day. We plan to organize our content and collaboration sessions into categories so that participants do not have to attend every session, or even every day. As of now, we are planning a day dedicated each topic of Talent, Innovation, and Place. In addition to the four-day event, we will be holding an Economic Celebration on September 30, where we will announce the winners of the Awards of Excellence and share a few other fun surprises, too!
