Abstract

The University of South Carolina (UofSC) Center for Applied Innovation, Advanced Analytics, and Digital Transformation serves regional government, academia, and business. The Center aims to facilitate and develop in-demand skills, accelerate research innovations into markets, and drive regional economic development.

Established in April 2016, the Center supports university and industry researchers, including those at companies like IBM, Siemens, Samsung, and Nephron. Researchers regularly collaborate to develop on-campus demonstrations for the Internet of Things (IoT) using real-world industrial equipment, such as Yaskawa and KUKA robots.

These demonstrations have become the focal point where the best minds in industry, university research, and emerging university students come together to provide a fresh perspective on how to address current industry problems. In addition, demonstrations have increased the capabilities of UofSC’s state and regional government partners, such as SC Department of Commerce and county economic development alliances.
