We have an excellent opportunity for a full-time faculty position located in Pierce, Nebraska and serving northeast Nebraska. We want individuals who are self-directed and able to work in a flexible environment. The focus of this position will be the Community Vitality Initiative (CVI) with an emphasis on leadership that results in community development. This person will teach and coordinate CVI programs regionally in: a) developing and/or growing rural Nebraska businesses; b) engaging youth and young adults in rural communities; and c) creating 21st century communities that attract and retain young people (http://communityvitality.unl.edu/welcome-new for more information).

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required; one degree in Leadership, Community Development, Regional Economics, Community and Regional Planning, Agricultural Economics, Rural Sociology, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or closely related field. Master’s degree must be completed by start date.
  • Successful experience teaching in a formal or informal setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (i.e. publications, presentations, web, and social media).
  • Experience working with individuals, coworkers, and teams to accomplish individual and/or group goals, as evidenced by college, career, and/or community activities.
  • Outstanding leadership skills as demonstrated by roles in college, career, and/or community activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to utilize electronic and online technologies for educational program delivery.
  • Understanding of different ethnic and socioeconomic audiences and a commitment to developing and delivering both inclusive and targeted programming.
  • Successful experience in developing financial support for educational programs including grant writing, fund generation, contracting and/or cost recovery efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and programs.
  • Successful experience in teaching community vitality topics in a formal or informal setting;
  • Experience teaching small business owners, entrepreneurs, or youth development organization staff or volunteers;
  • Demonstrated ability to network with business or community leaders.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Business or agricultural entrepreneurship experiences.
