Kena Nicol began her career with Dallas College in 2019 as a Department Assistant in the Labor Market Intelligence Center, where she gained the skills to use labor market information to guide decision-making for Dallas College. Now, as a Data Visualization and GIS Analyst, she collaborates with her colleagues, in both the LMIC and the broader Economic Opportunity Division, to analyze local industry and community needs, using data visualization and GIS tools. Kena holds a B.A. in International Relations and Global Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, where she focused on Science, Technology, and the Environment. She also a minored in European Studies and a received a certificate in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies. Lastly, she studied abroad at the University of Sheffield in England.
