Information The Economic Development Project Manager position requires a flexible, team-player who will provide technical assistance and consulting services, manage projects, work with local stakeholders, and conduct applied research in the area of community and economic development in conjunction with the faculty, professional staff, and students. Position will directly apply knowledge of local and state economic development policies and tools specific to Ohio. As such, the position requires a familiarity and experience with Port Authorities, Special Improvement Districts, Joint Economic Development Districts, tax abatement/credit programs, enterprise bond funds, grant programs, and other tools available to support economic development efforts in Ohio.

Additional position duties include compiling and analyzing publicly-available economic, demographic, industry, and occupational data; conducting industry cluster and economic impact analyses; and other research using common economics-based statistical techniques. Strong oral communication skills are required to present to stakeholders. Strong academic and professional writing skills are required to contribute to research reports. The position will assist the supervisor and other faculty and staff with writing grant proposals and managing projects. Prior experience as an economic development practitioner in the State of Ohio is highly desired.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in city and regional planning, economics/agricultural economics, public policy, or a similar field is required AND at least one year of work experience in any field.
  • Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, the ability to travel and the ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed to fulfill job duties.
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of work history and experience deemed to be exemplary may substitute the Master’s degree requirement. Relevant coursework toward AICP, IEDC/CEcD, and/or Ohio Economic Development Institute (OEDI) coursework is encouraged for bachelor’s only applicants.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as an economic development practitioner in Ohio
  • Economic development certification
