TechHelp is Idaho’s Manufacturing Extension Center, and we are seeking a talented Manufacturing Specialist to help us deliver winning business, technical and training expertise to Idaho manufacturers. The Manufacturing Specialist will develop relationships with clients and provide consulting in the areas of E3 (Energy, Environment, and Economy), lean enterprise practices, business management, and growth and innovation. As a TechHelp Manufacturing Specialist, you will work in a fun and fast-paced university environment. TechHelp is chartered by the U.S. government and the State of Idaho to help Idaho manufacturers, processors and inventors become more competitive through continuous product and process improvement, growth and innovation. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Help our clients run effective and efficient operations through programs such as E3 and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Help clients create new products, markets and messages using innovative programs such as Innovation Management and TechHelp’s award winning New Product Development operation at Boise State University.
  • Stay on the cutting edge of modern manufacturing methods as an affiliate of the nationwide Manufacturing Extension Partnership.
  • Collaborate to meet client needs with professors, manufacturing specialists and bright young university engineering students at Idaho’s three state universities.

At a minimum you should have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Engineering, plus 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the following areas: Consulting and client management, Identifying and developing business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • A desire to travel throughout the state, 5-10 days a month.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • A Master’s Degree in Engineering and experience as a professional consultant.
  • Experience in E3, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, and/or The Toyota Production System.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing industry, including food processing.
  • Problem solving using a Lean Six Sigma methodology.

Salary and benefits: Competitive base salary plus incentive plan and an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, retirement plan, reduced tuition benefits, 24 days vacation leave and 12 days sick leave annually, plus 10 paid holidays, as well as other benefits.
