A Focus On Human Capital, Energy, and Knowledge Communities.
Colleges and universities are powering the knowledge economy. The 2012 UEDA Annual Summit will bring together higher education officials, innovation intermediaries, economic developers, engineers, workforce development specialists, planners, real estate developers, state and federal leaders. Participants will explore how these assets and strategies—People, Power, and Place—must be cultivated, especially as universities are sponsors or participants in the strategies.
Some sessions will address Human Capital strategies—ranging from degree programs in emerging fields to specific initiatives to develop high-end workforce skills and entrepreneurial talents.
This year’s conference will also offer panel discussions highlighting the trends and opportunities related to the Advanced Energy Sectors. Almost all major events can be linked in some way to the world’s demand, control and steady supply of energy. As this dynamic escalates, it will continue to create robust opportunity for new and disruptive market innovations and economic development.
Finally, still other sessions will focus on “place-based strategies”—including the campus itself; special-purpose sites and facilities, and overall competitiveness of communities.

The Annual Summit will be held at the Marriott Chattanooga at the Convention Center. Reservations are now being accepted for rooms online or via phone.
