Director, Penn State Small Business Development Center

This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Professional and Community Education and is responsible for the management and operation of the SBDC in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and other governing documents. The Director ensures that all performance expectations are met while supervising a staff of six. The Director prepares proposal for funding, manages and monitors the budget, and ensures budget targets are met. Developing partnerships and collaborations is a critical element of the position.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with an SBDC, knowledge of entrepreneurship and small business development, experience managing grants and contracts, the demonstrated ability to develop collaborations, and strong written and oral communication skills. Typically requires a Master’s degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in business management, marketing, accounting, finance, or economics is preferred. Excellent computer skills is required and experience working with a CRM is preferred. We value candidates who are forward-thinking, open-minded, and flexible. Requires some evening and weekend work. Travel is required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
