Genna Hurd is an Associate Researcher for the Institute for Policy & Social Research (IPSR) at the University of Kansas and Co-Investigator for the KU University Center, KU Entrepreneurship Works for Kansas. The EDA-funded University Center is a partnership effort between IPSR and the KU Center for Entrepreneurship in the School of Business. The KU UC focuses on unique and pragmatic programs in entrepreneurship, the biosciences, and technology. Hurd is part of the IPSR team that assesses and evaluates the Kansas NSF EPSCoR Program, which promotes scientific progress at KU, Kansas State University, and Wichita State University. She is Editor of the Kansas Statistical Abstract, an online data compendium for the State of Kansas. The IPSR Abstract team received KU’s first Team Award in 2008. Hurd is associated with the Center for Science, Technology and Economic Policy at IPSR and helps to plan and organize its annual Kansas Economic Policy Conference. Genna served as President of the University Economic Development Association from 2007-2008 and was on the UEDA Board from 2004- 2009 and 2012-2013. She was elected Treasurer/Secretary of UEDA in 2013. Genna graduated with Distinction from KU in 1979 with a Bachelors of Science in Business and Biology and a Masters of Urban Planning in 1983.
